From the island came reggae and songs which have touched people everywhere and if you can tear yourself away from the beaches, visitors can marvel at lovingly restored great houses like Rose Hall, raft leisurely down the Rio Grande or Marther Brae rivers or wander into one of the small villages and sample jerk pork, Red Stripe beer or one of the islands famous rum punches.

Certainly, this magnificent island of exotic greenery, blue lagoons, tropical forests, rugged mountains and cascading waterfalls offers everything you could possibly want. Year-round, Jamaica enjoys temperatures of between 75-90ºF and two delightfully named winds help cool the island - Doctors Wind, blowing in gently from inland out to sea and Undertakers Wind, coming off the sea in the evenings. Popular tourist areas are either Montego Bay or Ocho Rios.

Weather

Jamaica enjoys sunny weather and has a tropical climate and a warm average daytime temperature of 28-30°C (although this is markedly cooler in central highlands). The dry season is traditionally considered January to May and the wet season June to November. Hurricane season is generally June-October although most storms tend to miss Jamaica.

This is my favourite destination for food, music and the peace and love vibe! You can't help but fall in love with Jamaica. I have stayed in Montego Bay & Ocho Rios, my favourite being Montego Bay as it is a good central base for exploring, not far from the airport. There are activities to suit everyone. Hop on a catamaran to Ocho Rios and arrive in style at Dunns River Falls and climb up the famous waterfall, sip cocktails at Rick's Cafe in Negril or visit the blue hole where you can slide through cliffs/rocks and then leap off waterfalls. Explore Bob Marley's Birth & Rest place whilst listening to his famous music and learning about the singer's life.

I stayed in a Sandals resort in Ocho Rios and absolutely loved it. With its stunning scenery and renowned attractions, we made the most of our time. The renowned Dunn's River Falls was a trip to remember, I suppose climbing a 600ft waterfall with no safety measures in place is just something that sticks with you! We visited Bob Marley's birthplace. In true Jamaican style, "No Problem" are the two words you will hear all day long. Nothing is too much trouble, everything is so laid back.

I was lucky enough to visit Jamaica with Sandals Resorts, staying at Sandals Royal Caribbean and Private Island, Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals South Coast. I also visited Beaches Negril for families, there's so much to do even teens would enjoy a stay here! The beaches in Jamaica are white sand with lovely clear blue waters. There is plenty to see and do, including a lazy raft ride on Martha Brae River Montego Bay, climbing the world-famous Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios or watching the cliff divers at Rick's Cafe in Negril.

Jamaica was the first Caribbean island I ever visited and I ventured to the famous lush blue mountains, relaxed on endless sandy beaches and climbed the impressive Dunn's River Falls. Montego Bay was thriving and the nightlife was focused on spring break beach parties until the early hours of the morning. The locals were so friendly and it felt safe to be there.
